Taxonomy
Chubutophis grandis was named by Albino (1993). Its type specimen is MLP 83-III-1-150, a set of vertebrae (almost complete trunk vertebra), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Valle Hermoso, which is in a Casamayoran terrestrial horizon in the Sarmiento Formation of Argentina.
