Ammonites pacificus was named by Stoliczka (1865). It is not a trace fossil. It is the type species of Pseudokossmaticeras.
It was recombined as Pseudokossmaticeras pacificus by Kennedy and Bilotte (1995); it was recombined as Pseudokossmaticeras pacificum by Kennedy and Klinger (2013).
