Taxonomy
Bernaya (Bernaya) jeanae was named by Groves (2004). Its type specimen is LACMIP 13067, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is LACMIP loc. 17611, along Dry Creek, near Pentz, which is in a Campanian open shallow subtidal conglomerate in the Chico Formation of California.

L. T. Groves 2004A Bemaya of medium size, anterior and posterior canals deep, spire of medium height, fossula smooth, concave, anterior and posterior terminal ridges prominent extending to margins.

Shell medium in size, constricted anteriorly; maximum height and width posterior to center; spire of medium height, partially covered by successive whorls; aperture wide, straight; denticulation faint, outer lip with 13 teeth, teedi absent from inner lip; outer lip with prominent anterior and posterior terminal ridges extending to margins forming slight marginal callus.
