Taxonomy
Pleurosaurus goldfussi was named by von Meyer (1831). Its type specimen is von Meyer 1831 holotype, a skeleton (complete skeleton), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Daiting (BSPG collection), which is in a Tithonian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal lime mudstone in the Mörnsheim Formation of Germany.
