Taxonomy
Chimbuites giganteus was named by Matsumoto and Skwarko (1993). Its type specimen is CPC 16082, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is LW455, Pio Gorge, which is in a Cenomanian marine sandstone in Papua New Guinea.
