It was assigned to Echinidae by Holmes (1860); to Scutellidae by Grant and Hertlein (1938); to Scutellidae by Clark and Twitchell (1915), Kew (1920), Cooke (1942); to Mellitidae by Durham (1955), Durham (1966); and to Clypeasteroida by Sepkoski (2002).
