Taxonomy
Nautilus fuscus was named by Crick (1898). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Burton Bradstock (upper truelli beds), which is in a Parkinsoni marine limestone in the Inferior Oolite Formation of the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Somalinautilus fuscus by Kummel (1956).
