Taxonomy
Douvilleiceras tschernyschewi was named by Sinzow (1906). It is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Cheloniceras (Epicheloniceras).

It was recombined as Cheloniceras (Epicheloniceras) tschernyschewi by Casey (1954), El Qot (2018); it was recombined as Epicheloniceras tschernyschowi by Aliev (1958); it was recombined as Cheloniceras tschernyschewi by Förster (1975); it was recombined as Epicheloniceras tschernyschewi by Collignon (1962), Ovando-Figueroa et al. (2018), Lehmann and Aly (2024).
