Stomatal plug structure unknown. Subsidiary cells usually four, sometimes five or six. Guard cells level with the hypodermis. Cuticle on subsidiary cells granular, outer flange oval, regular, rim unthickened. Flange between guard and subsidiary cells an irregular fringe, absent from guard cell poles. Polar extensions absent. Flange between guard cells smooth and thin. Cuticle on guard cell surface smooth or slightly granular. Epidermal cell walls sometimes sinuous, buttressing prominent. |
