Euproteaciphyllum serratum was named by Jordan et al. (1998) [Type locality: Thqe Early Oligocene Lemonthyme Creek sediments, north-western Tasmania.]. It is not extant. Its type specimen is Holotype: LT201, stored in the Department of Plant Science, University of Tasmania., a cuticle (Leaf). Its type locality is Lemonthyme Creek, which is in an Oligocene lacustrine siltstone/claystone in Australia.
