C. M. O. Rasmussen et al. 2012 | Shell gently concavo-convex, transverse, semi-elliptical in outline, with acute, slightly alate cardinal angles. Anterior commissure rectimarginate. Ventral valve weakly to moderately convex, notably towards the anterior margin. Moderately high, weakly apsacline interarea. Small apical pseudodeltidium present. Dorsal interarea flat, low and catacline to hypercline. Chilidium present. Ornament unequally parvicostellate with accentuated costae relatively closely spaced.
Ventral interior with large teeth supported by small, widely divergent dental plates. Ventral muscle field strongly impressed, bilobed and extends anteriorly at about one-third of valve length from the posterior margin. Adductor scars commonly well confined in a small bilobed area enclosed by strong muscle bounding ridges. Dorsal interior with trifid cardinal process with fused socket ridges bases. Median septum moderately elevated, separating two or three pairs of low ridges that become weaker laterally. Median septum extends almost to the anterior margin, but ends anteriorly in a divided, weakly elevated but variably developed subperipheral rim. |
