Goliathyris was named by Feldman and Owen (1988) [Sepkoski's age data: J Call-u Sepkoski's reference number: 881]. It is not extant. Its type is Goliathyris lewyi.
It was assigned to Terebratulacea by Feldman and Owen (1988); to Terebratulida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Terebratulidina by Williams et al. (2006).
