Taxonomy
Anthaspidella was named by Ulrich and Everett (1889). Its type is Anthaspidella mammulata. It is the type genus of Anthaspidellidae.
It was assigned to Eospongiidae by Pestana (1960); to Lithistida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Anthaspidellidae by Rigby and Desrochers (1995) and Finks et al. (2004).
