Taxonomy
Leptaena rugosa was named by Dalman (1828). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Borenshult, which is in a Porkuni carbonate limestone in the Loka Formation of Sweden. It is the type species of Leptaena, Leptaena (Leptaena).
It was recombined as Leptaena (Leptaena) rugosa by Cocks (2008), Cocks (2010), Hints and Harper (2015).
