Taxonomy
Herentalia nigra was named by Bisconti (2014). Its type specimen is ZMA 5069, a partial skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Berchem, Canal d'Herenthals, which is in a Tortonian lagoonal sandstone in the Diest Formation of Belgium.
