Taxonomy
Kilbuchomena prima was named by Candela and Harper (2009). Its type specimen is NMS.G.2005.109.1 (external and internal moulds of ventral and dorsal valves) and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Kilbucho, which is in a Cheneyan marine mudstone in the Kirkcolm Formation of the United Kingdom. It is the type species of Kilbuchomena.
