Taxonomy
Abyssochrysos giganteum was named by Kiel et al. (2008). Its type specimen is UCMP 555095 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCMP loc. A-7281, East Berryessa, which is in a Cretaceous marine carbonate in California.
