Wantzosaurus elongatus

Taxonomy

Wantzosaurus elongatus was named by Lehman (1961). Its type specimen is MNHN MAE3030, a partial skull (Mould of the skull roof with parts of the occiput, mandibles and palate), and it is a mold. Its type locality is Madiromiary, which is in an Induan/Smithian deltaic siliciclastic in the Middle Sakamena Formation of Madagascar. It is the type species of Wantzosaurus.

Synonyms

Ifasaurus elongatus was named by Lehman (1966). Its type specimen is MNHN 3034, a partial skull (Skull fragment), and it is a mold. Its type locality is Anjavimilai, which is in an Induan/Smithian deltaic siliciclastic in the Middle Sakamena Formation of Madagascar. It is the type species of Ifasaurus.

It was synonymized subjectively with Wantzosaurus elongatus by Schoch and Milner (2000), Steyer (2002).
