Taxonomy
Benthosuchus gusevae was named by Novikov (2012). Its type specimen is SOIKM KMK K_23420, a partial skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Alekseevka 1, which is in a Triassic terrestrial horizon in the Kamennyi Yar Formation of the Russian Federation.
