Discussion
Cocude-Michel (1963) suggests that this species does not belong to Homoeosaurus, but instead is closer to Kallimodon and Sapheosaurus, and is therefore of uncertain sphenodontian affinity.
Taxonomy
Homoeosaurus rhodani was named by Lortet (1892). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Cerin, Jura, which is in a Kimmeridgian terrestrial horizon in France.
