Taxonomy
Ceresiosaurus calcagnii was named by Peyer (1931). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Acqua del Ghiffo, near Serpiano, Monte San Giorgio, which is in a Ladinian marine horizon in Switzerland.
It was recombined as Lariosaurus calcagnii by Rieppel (1998).
