Platycepsion wilkinsoni
Taxonomy
Platyceps wilkinsoni was named by Stephens (1887). Its type specimen is NSWGS 12572, a partial skeleton (Skull, pectoral bird, vertebral column and hind limb), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Gosford Quarry (BMNH coll), which is in a Spathian/Bithynian lacustrine shale in the Terrigal Formation of Australia. It is the type species of Platyceps, Platycepsion.
It was recombined as Blinasaurus wilkinsoni by Cosgriff (1969); it was recombined as Platycepsion wilkinsoni by Kuhn (1961), Warren and Marsicano (1998), Warren and Marsicano (2000), Poropat et al. (2023).
