Entalophora was named by Lamoureux (1821) [Sepkoski's age data: ]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Entalophoridae.

It was assigned to Entalophoridae by Bassler (1953) and Fischer (1969); and to Cyclostomata by Sepkoski (2002).
