Taxonomy
Trematosaurus thuringiensis was named by Werneburg (1993). Its type specimen is MB Am. 943.1/3, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Vacha, which is in an Olenekian terrestrial horizon in Germany.
