Georgiasaurus penzensis
Taxonomy
Georgia penzensis was named by Otschev (1976). Its type specimen is POKM 11658, Penza Province, Regional Studies Museum, a partial skeleton (skull, seven cervical vertebrae, vertebral impressions, scapulae, and two paddles), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Zatolokino Village, which is in a Santonian marine sandstone in the Russian Federation. It is the type species of Georgia, Georgiasaurus.
It was recombined as Georgiasaurus penzensis by Storrs et al. (2000).
