Glaphyroptula anglica was named by Cockerell (1915). Its type specimen is USNM 61408, an exoskeleton, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Lower Lias (Brodie coll), which is in a Rhaetian/Hettangian marine shale/limestone in the United Kingdom.
