Taxonomy
Crocodilus hartti was named by Marsh (1869). Its type specimen is YPM 516, a tooth, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Plataforma, which is in a Hauterivian/Barremian terrestrial conglomerate/shale in Brazil.
It was recombined as Goniopholis hartti by Mawson and Woodward (1907), Maury (1930); it was recombined as Sarcosuchus hartti by Buffetaut and Taquet (1977), Norell and Storrs (1989), Andrade et al. (2011), Bronzati et al. (2012).
