Coloniatherium cilinskii
Taxonomy
Coloniatherium cilinskii was named by Rougier et al. (2009). Its type specimen is MPEF−PV 2087, a mandible (fragmentary right lower jaw with complete p3, root fragments of p2, m1–m3, and alveoli for p1 and double rooted canine), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is El Uruguayo, Estancia El Pino, Sierra de La Colonia, which is in a Maastrichtian estuary/bay horizon in the La Colonia Formation of Argentina. It is the type species of Coloniatherium.
