Taxonomy
Spiriferella supplanta was named by Waterhouse (1964). Its type specimen is NZGS BR558 and is a mold. Its type locality is GS6070, Letham Burn, (D44/f9621), which is in a Kungurian marine horizon in the Letham Formation of New Zealand.
