---|---|---|
T. E. Rasmussen and G. Callison 1981 | A subfamily of Sphenodontidae with cheek teeth much wider than long. Two distinct wear facets (lateral and medial) formed on tooth row. Tooth wear facets on lateral side of tooth row almost vertical on posterior teeth but slightly more horizontal anteriorly. Tooth wear facets on medial side of tooth row closer to horizontal, becoming more horizontal anteriorly, then becoming more vertical near mandibular symphysis. Surface for articulation of mandible to quadrate formed by prearticular and articular. Mandible deep (in dorsoventral dimension). Dentary deep; well exposed below angular on medial surface of mandible; extends almost to posterior terminus of mandible. |
