Congosaurus bequaerti
Taxonomy
Congosaurus bequaerti was named by Dollo (1914). Its type specimen is MRAC 1741-1743, 1745, 1796, 1797, 1802, 1803, 1806, 1809-1811, 1813-1819, 1823, 1828, 1839, 1852, 1854, 1870, 1871, 1887, 1894 and 1895, a partial skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Landana cliffs (layer 8), which is in a Selandian marine sandstone/shale in the Landana Formation of Angola.
It was recombined as Dyrosaurus bequaerti by Arambourg (1952), Antunes (1964); it was recombined as Hyposaurus bequaerti by Buffetaut (1976) and Buffetaut (1980).
