Strophomena walmstedti was named by Lindström (1861). It is not extant.

It was recombined as Brachyprion walmstedti by Holtedahl (1916); it was recombined as Megastrophia (Protomegastrophia) walmstedti by Bassett and Cocks (1974); it was synonymized subjectively with Erinostrophia undata by Cocks and Worsley (1993); it was recombined as Brachyprion (Erinostrophia) walmstedti by Hoel (2011).
