Taxonomy
Floridameryx floridanus was named by Webb (2008). Its type specimen is UF 13832, a mandible (male left ramus), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Withlacoochee River Site 4A, which is in a Hemphillian pond claystone in Florida. It is the type species of Floridameryx.
