Taxonomy
Vectophis wardi was named by Rage and Ford (1980). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Totland Bay, Lower Headon Beds, Isle of Wight, which is in an Eocene marine claystone/marl in the Lower Headon Beds Formation of the United Kingdom. It is the type species of Vectrophis.
