Platyceras (Orthonychia) compressa was named by Williams and Breger (1916). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is locality 1099M. West side of Edmunds Hill, Chapman Township, which is in a Lochkovian delta front sandstone in the Chapman Sandstone Formation of Maine.
