Differs from other members of the Family Ichthyosauridae in the following combination of characters: rostrum deep near the orbit, orbit large, postorbital region not narrow, basioccipital with a reduced extracondylar area and with two elongated and sightly concave areas placed symmetrically in the extracondylar area, nares elongate, maxillary very reduced in lateral view, teeth reduced"
