It was synonymized subjectively with Ophthalmosaurus by Maisch and Matzke (2000).
It was assigned to Undorosauridae by Efimov (1999); to Ichthyosauridae by Storrs et al. (2000); to Ophthalmosauridae by McGowan and Motani (2003), Maisch (2010), Robert et al. (2014); and to Ophthalmosaurinae by Arkhangelsky and Zverkov (2014).
It was synonymized subjectively with Ophthalmosaurus by Maisch and Matzke (2000).
