Taxonomy
Karanisia arenula was named by Jaeger et al. (2010). Its type specimen is DT1-42, a tooth (left m2), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Dor el Talha Idam, which is in a Bartonian/Eocene marine siltstone/sandstone in the Idam Unit Formation of Libya.
