Taxonomy
Gyrosina ovata was named by Cooper (1989). It is not extant. Its type locality is Zilfi, S154, which is in a Callovian shallow subtidal limestone in the Tuwaiq Mountain Formation of Saudi Arabia.
It was recombined as Apatecosia ovata by Williams et al. (2006).
