Eopolycotylus rankini
Taxonomy
Eopolycotylus rankini was named by Albright et al. (2007) [Type Locality: MNA LOC 1496, Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, Kane County, Utah.
Stratigraphic Occurrence: Tropic Shale, approximately 48 m above local top of Dakota Formation, 42.7 m above top of Bentonite A, 14.8 m above top of Bentonite D, 16.5 m below LO of Mammites; occurs with Mytiloides mytiloides and Morrowites subdepressus, but not with Collignoniceras
Age: Late Early Turonian]. Its type specimen is MNA V9445, a partial skeleton (anterior part of rostrum, anterior part of mandible, right and left clavicle with fused interclavicle, right and left scapula, right and left coracoid, right hu), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Big Water, Tropic Shale, which is in a Turonian marine shale in the Tropic Shale Formation of Utah. It is the type species of Eopolycotylus.
