Streblochondria was named by Newell (1938) [Sepkoski's age data: C Tour P Dora Sepkoski's reference number: 524,1058]. It is the type genus of Streblochondriidae.
It was assigned to Aviculopectinidae by Hayami (1975); to Streblochondriidae by Newell and Boyd (1995); to Pterioida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Streblochondriinae by Bouchet et al. (2010).
