Taxonomy
Cancellaria laevescens was named by Guppy (1866) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene-Pliocene; Caribbean.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Cancellaria (Cancellaria) laevescens by Woodring (1928), Woodring (1970); it was recombined as Cancellaria (Pyruclia) laevescens by Jung and Petit (1990), Landau et al. (2007).
