Fusus honensis was named by Olsson (1922). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Hone Creek, which is in a Piacenzian marine siliciclastic in the Banano Formation of Costa Rica.
It was recombined as Fusinus honensis by Oinomikado (1939).
