Dyslocosaurus was named by Mcintosh et al. (1992). Its type is Dyslocosaurus polyonychius.
It was assigned to Diplodocidae by Mcintosh et al. (1992), Chure et al. (2006); to Diplodocoidea by Salgado et al. (2012); to Dicraeosauridae by Tschopp et al. (2015); and to Dicraeosauridae by Mannion et al. (2021).
