Taxonomy
Albanerpeton cifellii was named by Gardner (1999). Its type specimen is OMNH 25400, a partial skull (right premaxilla), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Smoky Hollow Member (OMNH V4), which is in a Turonian fluvial-lacustrine claystone in the Straight Cliffs Formation of Utah.

Gardner 1999Species of Albanerpeton most similar to A. golaktion and unnamed middle Campanian species in having premaxilla with suprapalatal pit triangular to slit-like in lingual outline, but differs from these and all other congeners in having premaxilla with lingual face of pars dorsalis bearing a facet dorsomedially, the ventrolateral margin of which is formed by a dorsal expansion of the more lateral internal strut.
