Taxonomy

Sharpeiceras was named by Hyatt (1903) [Sepkoski's age data: K Ceno-l]. Its type is Ammonites laticlavius.

It was assigned to Acanthoceratidae by Benavides-Caceres (1956), Zaborski (1985); to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002); and to Mantelliceratinae by Kennedy (1994), Wright et al. (1996), Kennedy (2005), Kennedy (2013), Kennedy (2014), Sharifi et al. (2016), El Qot (2018).

Synonyms

Tlahualiloceras was named by Kellum and Mintz (1962).

It was synonymized subjectively with Sharpeiceras by Wright et al. (1996).

It was assigned to Mantelliceratinae by Kellum and Mintz (1962).
