Taxonomy
Gouldia (Paragouldia) platycostata was named by Miller (1985). Its type specimen is ANBSP 62892, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Section SG1, Smith Gut - unit A [Smith Gut Mbr, Flanner Beach Fm], which is in a Pleistocene coastal sandstone in the Flanner Beach Formation of North Carolina. It is the type species of Paragouldia.
