Taxonomy
Neritopsis dumortieri was named by Conti and Szabó (1989). Its type specimen is 1886/5/59, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Capo San Vigilio [Oolite di San Viligio], which is in a Toarcian marine limestone in the San Viligio Oolite Formation of Italy.
