Nebraskites was named by Kennedy and Cobban (1988) [Sepkoski's age data: K Turo-u]. Its type is Nebraskites haresiceratiforme.
It was assigned to Acanthoceratinae by Chancellor et al. (1994), Wright et al. (1996); and to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002).
