Taxonomy
Synechodus antiquus was named by Ivanov (2005). Its type specimen is PM SPU 39-13, a tooth, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Tra-Tau Hill Section 1629, which is in an Artinskian marine limestone/marl in the Russian Federation.
